Santander2014 ISAF Sailing World Championships inaugurates with a big show

The Spanish Olympic Team, biggest protagonist of the event

Thousands of people wanted to support the Olympic participants in the inauguration ceremony.

Santander 2014 ISAF Sailing world championship is officially inaugurated. Athletes, authorities and the World Championship’s organisation have been united in the inauguration ceremony of this great competition. A ceremony that started with the parade of the Olympic teams participates, being the Spanish team in charge of closing the inauguration parade.

The act was presented by the RTVE’s presenter Jesús Alvarez, gave way to the President of the RFEV José Angel Rodríguez Santos, Santander’s Mayor Iñigo de la Serna, Cantabria’s President Ignacio Diego and ISAF’s President Carlo Croce.

The sailors, the big protagonists, swore their oath represented by the cantabrian Berta Betanzos, oath that was followed by the judges, essential figures during the competition.

After he oath, the ISAF’s President Carlo Croce, inaugurated Santander 2014 ISAF Sailing World Championship s. An inauguration full of surprises, like the Spanish flag made in the air by the members of the Patrulla Aguila of the Air Army, whit the reproduction of the Velero Hispania that belonged to Alfonso XIII and the delivery of the ISAF’s flag to Jan Abascal and Toño Gorostegui were the most emotional moments of this ceremony that without doubt has been the precursor of what it is expected to be a great championship.
