NEW ACTIONS FOR THE EMERGING NATIONS PROGRAMME

The Upcoming concentration of this second phase will take place in Santander in several weeks

This emerging nations program (ENP), started in March 2012, is an activity linked from the beginning to the Sailing World Championships of Olympic Classes, Santander 2014. This program has the important support of the ISAF and the IOC through Olympic Solidarity.

This emerging nations program (ENP), started in March 2012, is an activity linked from the beginning to the Sailing World Championships of Olympic Classes, Santander 2014. This program has the important support of the ISAF and the IOC through Olympic Solidarity.

The team managing this program in their areas Technical, Physics, Medical and Nutritional, and that also develops the different courses is run by Alejandro Abascal, has the support from Teresa Lara (international relations), Dan Jaspers (Training and Development Manager - ISAF), Carmen Vaz (Medic), Diego Quintana (physical trainer) and as coaches Roy Alonso, Airám Rodríguez, Jordi Lamarca and Ruben Moran.

1st Phase of the ENP program (2012-13)

During 2012 and 2013 there have been concentrations on continents, grouping neighboring countries, in the following courses:

Another course was also held, under sponsorship of ISAF in Aitutaki, Cook Island, from 18 to 24 May of 2013.

All ENP concentrations were matched with level III courses of ISAF for technicians thus encouraging attendance at these calls for athletes with their coaches, and working with the athlete and the coach's capacity for him to level up the other sailors from his country.

In total, in this first phase, it has hosted 114 athletes from 42 countries.

2nd phase of the ENP program (2013)

For this second phase of the ENP were selected from the initial list, 19 women from Laser Radial and 30 men from Laser Standard.

The first concentration of this second phase was just held in Santander from 6 to September 15, coinciding with the celebration of the Test Event, Ciudad de Santander Trophy.

At this gathering participated 7 Laser Radial of Serbia, Bulgaria, Venezuela, Thailand, Malaysia and Ecuador, and 11 Laser Standard of Seychelles, South Africa, Iceland, Tunisia, El Salvador, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Venezuela and Puerto Rico.

During this call, the activity was focused on improving all aspects of navigation technique and later in the participation in the test runs of the Ciudad de Santander Trophy , in which the emphasis was on the development of the competition and the subsequent analysis of what happened in it.

3rd phase of the ENP program (2014)

The third phase of the program will be developed during 2014 with 4 activities for each class, ending the program with the participation in the Santander 2014 ISAF Sailing World Championship.
