Gaeta, May 10th 2016 – Day 2 at “Finn Gold Cup 2016” has been influenced by atmospheric conditions, with a light- shifty wind that decreased to 2 knots and permitted just one daily race. The German sailor Phillip Kasueske has been classified first and he’s now second in the ranking, preceded by the winner of race #1 Deniss Karpak, who placed 13th yesterday and is still in the first position. The Britain World Champion Giles Scott finished the race as 2nd (now 7th in summary ranking).
It was a good day for the Italian group: Michele Paoletti, 14th overall, is actually the first Italian athlete in the Finn Gold Cup, followed by Giorgio Poggi (15th) and by the outsider Giacomo Giovanelli (16th). Filippo Baldassari, representing Fiamme Gialle, is climbing the ranking: he finished the daily race as 8th, reaching 20th overall.
“These are very difficult races in my opinion – Michele Paoletti (Società Velica di Barcola e Grignano) – Today I reached a nice result, thinking about Games in Rio 2016, with some inobservances by my oppositors . I can improve and I will improve. I won’t stop to work hard to reach a better placement in the next days.”.
The other Italian results: 24. Federico Colaninno, 26. Roberto Strappati, 30. Matteo Savio, 38. Tommaso Ronconi, 45. Francesco Cinque, 49. Alessandro Vongher, 52. Marco Buglielli, 53.
