St Michael’s Hotel & Spa in Falmouth will throw open its doors to welcome sailors from across the globe, competing in the J P Morgan Asset Management Finn Festival in May.
The hotel and spa is sponsoring the Opening and Closing Ceremonies for the Finn Festival, showing its support from the start to finish of this two week sailing regatta, probably the most significant world class sailing event ever to have been hosted in Falmouth. The Opening Ceremony will be held in the National Maritime Museum Cornwall, whilst the closing Ceremony will be fully open to the public and will precede the end of festival party on Events Square with live music from the hugely talented local band Area 51 , before the Finn Festival grand finale firework display, co-sponsored by Falmouth Harbour Commissioners.
Sponsorship of the event attracts preferred four star hotel status for the St Michael’s Hotel & Spa for the JP Morgan Asset Management Finn Festival.
“St Michael’s is delighted to be a sponsor of the JP Morgan Asset Management Finn Festival. Falmouth has an exciting calendar of events this year and this sailing festival is definitely one of the highlights. Our passion for all things sailing is evident in our interior design, with our walls adorned with racing yachts and sailing shots and our location in Falmouth, beside the beach, means we attract those who share our enjoyment of all things nautical” comments Nigel Carpenter, Proprietor of St Michael’s Hotel & Spa “We have created a number of short breaks for the festival, with prices from £199 per person for two nights, along with a very tempting Gym Membership offer exclusively for the competitors and spectators. This year with the Olympics hanging in the balance for the competitors, it is sure to be the best festival yet.”
The hotel, with its enviable seafront location, adjacent to Gyllyngvase Beach in Falmouth provides stunning sea views across subtropical gardens to Falmouth Bay and beyond to the race area where up to 120 Finn class dinghies will jostle for position, whilst some sailors and nations will be competing for Olympic qualification and selection.
One and two week Gold Membership options have been tailored for the competitors to use the superbly appointed health and fitness facilities at St Michael’s, including luxury spa treatments and massage to sooth and ease tired joints and muscles. The offer is also extended to visitors staying in Falmouth and residents over the regatta period.
“To secure the Finn Gold Cup in an Olympic year is quite an achievement for Falmouth, we look forward to welcoming the sailors, their teams and the International Jury to Falmouth and extending Cornish hospitality to all visitors to the event“ commented Malcolm Bell, Head of VisitCornwall, at Cornwall Development Company. “Without the considerable support and commitment of sponsors, partners and volunteers it would not be possible to host this world class sailing event in Falmouth, which will reinforce the reputation of Falmouth and Cornwall nationally and internationally as a top visitor destination.”
