The Falmouth Finn Festival 2012 is relying heavily on volunteer support from now to the end of May 2012.
Many people have already volunteered but we are seeking further expressions of interest from people with skills, enthusiasm and interest in the Festival, especially the sailing events.
While there are some specific volunteer roles that require sailing knowledge, there are many that do not. There are positions for everyone.
The volunteer programme is broken into five key areas:
Responsible for Infrastructure, Logistics, Transport, Media, Competitor Communications, Assistance with entry into the UK, Meet and Greet, Accommodation, Catering
All boats will be kept in the boat park where competitors will be based prior to and after the daily racing. Volunteers are needed to prepare the boat park prior to the event, to coordinate the parking of boats on arrival, and to assist with launch and recovery on race days.
All the power boats used for the events (race management / sponsors / media) come within this area, as well as equipment stores and control.
Whilst the race management team is largely being filled by specialists approved by the RYA, ISAF and IFA, volunteers are needed to provide and/or man RIBs patrolling the race area under the direction of the Event Safety Officer, and to man the Race Office.
This team will manage volunteer rostering, clothing, and refreshments, and is responsible for overseeing all volunteer aspects of the event. The team will manage the day-to-day operations for the numerous volunteers.
